Purchasing 2nd Hand Vests

Purchasing 2nd Hand Vests

At Point Two our primary concern is your safety. We understand that there is a second-hand market for our vests however we want to ensure you do not buy a vest that is not fit for purpose therefore we have put together this handy guide to help you make an informed decision when looking to buy a 2nd hand vest whether from eBay, Facebook or even from a friend.

  1. Check the vest is an up-to-date model. Does the vest take the bayonet fitting canisters or is it one of the older models that take screw canisters? If the latter, these vests were manufactured prior to October 2012 and since 2017 are no longer serviceable. We would strongly advise NOT to purchase these.
  2. If you are unsure the age of the vest, ask to see a picture of the label on the vest which will show the year of manufacture, size, and the serial number. Please feel free to call us on 01403 732128 with this information and we will be able to identify the age of the vest.
  3. Ask the seller to show you a proof of purchase and or the service history. All serviced vests are returned by us with a full-service report. Without this proof the vest may not have been properly maintained and therefore may fail in the event of activation.
  4. Please note that just because the vest has not been inflated due to not having a fall in the year it still needs to be serviced annually to ensure every working part is still in good order and to keep the warranty valid. At time of service, we replace the airbag as standard, we also check all the working parts and check the lanyard for wear and tear as this over time will need replacing.

We are happy to advise you if you are looking to purchase a 2nd hand vest and we also sell refurbished vests directly that have been serviced, washed and all working parts replaced with new including the lanyard and saddle attachment.
